Things are shaping up!

We stopped by the job site today to find that the concrete forms (what makes the walls) have been set! We were a little behind getting out tonight to see the progress, so our pictures are a bit dark. Every day that goes by it gets darker sooner. :( Soon we will have to invest in lanterns, candles and flashlights to see anything!

The house seems so much larger in person now that there are 8' walls standing vertically. We can't even imagine what it'll be like with two more stories on top of the basement!

We think in the next few days, the concrete will fill the forms, the septic tank will be set, the well will be dug, the electric transformer will be installed and the temporary electric pole will be installed. It should be a pretty busy few days weather permitting. I heard the dreaded "F" word again today, but our BFF weather.com says that 60 degree weather is headed our way...hooray!

To give you an idea of the size of the concrete frames, the Mack truck in the middle of the picture is close to 7' tall at the hood and maybe 8-9' wide.

A close up of the basement. This will be our future family room.

The opposite side of the basement from the previous picture. This will eventually be the fourth bedroom.

A nice view of the basement concrete frames.

View from the front of the house (future porch) looking south.
Stay tuned for more pictures :)

  1. Erin states, "future family room", however this will be known as the gentleman's cave. Fully equipped with oversized recliners and couches, a 100" TV or two, surround theatre acoustics, a pool table, and of course a kitchenette. Females permitted to enter include and are limited to daughters, sisters, wives, and bearers of food. :)
