Front Door Decisions

Hey Party People! Well, this stinkin' Daylight Saving Time is really putting a hitch in our giddy-up. By the time we get off work, the sun is down and pictures are a no-go. So, we're still making progress during the day, and working with vendors to make decisions in the evenings. Tonight we met with our window/door rep to confirm our window design and sizes. We have been having issues finding a door system that is exactly what we're looking for. So I thought I'd share some ideas for our front door.

Our ideal door is a 3/4 glass door with sidelights, transom and true divided lights (grid). Sounds simple, but it's actually not. I've been scouring the Internet and catalogs for pictures and only have come across a few that satisfy our requirements. Even the door/window salesman scratched his head at our request. And of course, the budget always has to be in mind.

The front door is one of the first things guests see, so you want it to leave a lasting impression and not just be "builder grade" boring. Check out these few beauties!

You might recognize this famous front door from the HGTV Dream Home - Sonoma, CA. This door is nearly perfect, however, we'd like to have grids/divided lights instead of just plain glass and black instead of mahogony. Not gonna lie though - we'd totally LOVE this door if it showed up with a bow on it! :)

Love this black entry door - sans faux palms and brass handle. Very close to what we're looking for. Now if I could just find those sconces!!

This one is right on the money - but wood is too expensive and needs a lot of maintenance. Our window/door rep is looking into a couple options (Simpson's French Door Collection) to see where they come in. If we can get what we want in fiberglass, that would be ideal.

By the way, our geothermal went in on Monday and I swear I've never seen so much earth moved at one time. Brad didn't have the camera with him at lunch when he went to visit, so he sent some pictures on his Blackberry. I'll see if we can get them uploaded soon (No guarantees on photo quality). Our yard temporarily looked like a million giant ants took over and built an ant hill mansion!

So stay tuned for more products, decisions and photos!
