Insulation

Although this may seem rather mundane insulation is part of the process that really brings to light the progress made and the workload to come.  Erin and I had our electrical and first home inspection yesterday and passed with flying colors.  Now that the first inspections are complete, the insulation and drywall are next on the list.

The insulation work began early this morning and is near completion.  The exterior walls of the house all have a mesh netting placed on top of the framework.  This netting will "hold" the blown in insulation in place. By blowing in the insulation, we gained a higher R value which will be most appreciated on those cold winter days. Those of you who have visited know what we're talking about! :) The interior walls are insulated with heavy run of the mill bat insulation which will aid in the house's warmth and breathing process.  Johnson County will conduct their insulation inspection tomorrow morning - we're keeping our fingers crossed!

The drywall is slated to begin this afternoon and should continue over the next few days. Initially we weren't going to finish the basement and garage, but ultimately it will save us time, energy and a huge mess in the future.

And lastly, our stone for the exterior chimney has begun. We've been told that it should take about 4 days to complete since the environment isn't exactly "ideal" (e.g. 30 feet high on the side of the house). Once that's complete, our standing seam metal roof is soon to follow!! Stay tuned!
